EDATS technology tested during the BRSE Summer Volleyball Camp

As part of the Erasmus+ EDATS project, the Békéscsabai Röplabda Sportegyesület (BRSE) organised two dedicated EDATS Days during its 2026 Summer Volleyball Camp, held in two sessions between 22–26 June and 29 June–3 July.

The EDATS project aims to develop and implement innovative sensor-based sports diagnostics solutions that support the objective assessment of athletic performance, contribute to injury prevention, and promote evidence-based coaching practices. A key objective of the project is to make advanced sports science technologies more accessible for athletes, coaches and sports organisations.

Throughout the two camp weeks, 95 young athletes participated in the testing programme. The objective was to introduce children to innovative sports performance assessment methods while collecting valuable measurement data in a real training environment.

During the testing sessions, participants completed a series of movement and balance assessments using the EDATS system, including:

  • single-leg and double-leg vertical jump tests,
  • single-leg balance tests,
  • double-leg standing balance tests,
  • balance assessments performed with both eyes open and eyes closed.

The testing sessions were carried out in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The children approached the activities with enthusiasm and curiosity, showing genuine interest in the technology and actively engaging in the different tasks. Beyond data collection, the programme also provided an excellent opportunity to familiarise young athletes with modern performance monitoring technologies used in sport science.

From an implementation perspective, the camp also served as an important opportunity to evaluate the EDATS system in a large-scale youth environment. Testing nearly one hundred participants within a short period demonstrated that the measurement protocol can be successfully integrated into youth sport events and recreational camps.

The experience gained during the summer camp will contribute to the continuous development of the EDATS project by providing valuable practical feedback on the usability of the system across different age groups and testing conditions.

The BRSE team would like to thank all young athletes, coaches and organisers for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the EDATS Days a success.
