Volleyball Festival of Future Champions – the 17th SK Volley Trophy Concludes Successfully
The EDATS project was given a great honour, having had the opportunity to be presented to the public at one of the largest sporting events organised by its Serbian partner, the SK Volley Club. The event took place at the “Miroslav Antić” Primary School in Futog, which hosted the 17th edition of the SK Volley Trophy – a celebration of youth and volleyball – organised with exceptional quality and care by the SK Volley Club for the seventeenth time.
The tournament officially opened on 17th June at 9:00 AM, when Stefan Marić – a former SK Volley player and now a first-team member of OK Vojvodina – delivered a ceremonial speech, marking the beginning of the competition. Matches were played across five age categories, with over 300 games taking place throughout the day.
A total of 128 girls’ teams (divided into two categories) and 40 boys’ teams (across four age groups) took part. These young athletes impressed not only with their technical skills, but also with their sportsmanship, motivation, team spirit and perseverance – all while enduring the heat of summer.
The smooth and well-organised running of the event was greatly supported by older players from both SK Volley and Futog West clubs, who volunteered across 23 mini courts. Through their responsible and consistent presence, they ensured seamless communication between the organisers and the competing teams, playing a key role in the tournament’s success.
The event concluded in the afternoon with the announcement of the best teams. The organisation of the tournament was flawless, and thanks are due to everyone involved: the young athletes, their coaches, the spectators, and Nemanja Jovišević, the headteacher of the host school. The organisers also expressed their gratitude to the Volleyball Association of Vojvodina, the Berić Watch Gallery, Carlsberg, and the public utility company JKP Vodovod for their support.
Adding a special dimension to this year’s Trophy was the presentation of the EDATS project – an initiative funded by the European Commission through the ERASMUS+ SPORT programme. Sporting professionals are already eagerly anticipating the opportunity to apply the ICT tools developed through this international partnership.
Finally, SK Volley has officially announced the 18th edition of the Trophy, which will once again bring together young volleyball talents in June 2026. It is hoped that preparations for the next event will be further supported by the innovative tools introduced by the EDATS project!
