EDATS at the 17th Sardegna Volley S3 event!

On June 2nd 2025, the Lungomare Poetto of the city of Cagliari has been transformed into a large outdoor volleyball court for the occasion of the 17th Sardegna Volley S3 event. The European Digital Assisted Training In Team Sports (EDATS) project, co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Program, was presented to the participants at this exceptional event.

The event saw the participation of about 2000 young athletes aged between 8 and 13, from all over the region, but considering coaches, managers and parents the total number of presences is about 5000 people. 41 playing fields have been set up, involving about 100 sports clubs. At the initiative, promoted by the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) and organized by the FIPAV Sardinia Regional Committee in collaboration with the Territorial Committee of Cagliari, EDATS was present with its own stand with the participation of Volleyball Alfieri, Dauvea and the University of Cagliari.

During the day, while the participants had the opportunity to try their hand at volleyball competitions, information material was distributed to athletes, managers and other curious people at the stand, explanations were provided on the project and its current progress and measurement tests were carried out thanks to the installed instrumentation.

Paolo Ligas, president of the Territorial Committee of Cagliari, underlined the importance of the event to promote the values of friendship, solidarity and integration among young athletes. The event represents an opportunity for children between the ages of 7 and 13 to compete in an outdoor sports context, learning the fundamentals of sport.

The event was therefore an important dissemination initiative for the Edats project, its current and future results and to highlight the possibilities offered by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme.
