BRSE Day and EDATS Measurement – where the youngest athletes met the latest technology

After the cold winter days, not only the beautiful sunshine but also the smiles of the children brightened the building of the Békéscsaba Volleyball Academy.

Last weekend, the Békéscsaba Volleyball Sport Association (BRSE) organized the BRSE Day, when the youngest pupils from our partner schools gather in the Academy’s sports hall to show the world how talented they are. On this occasion, our colleagues working in the Petőfi Street, Jankay, Slovak, Erzsébethelyi and Lencsési schools brought 65 first- and second-grade children to this joyful day of sports.

The children, divided into 24 teams, played volleyball, took part in relay races, and completed various skill challenges in a rotating station system set up in different sections of the hall.

At one of the stations, the children participated in an interesting measurement activity. Our sports science and medical staff measured the vertical center-of-mass displacement of the children using a new innovative technology developed within the EDATS project, implemented under the ERASMUS+ SPORT programme. With the help of the sensors, the vertical movement of athletes’ (height of their jump) was measured in a simple and cost-effective way.

At the end of the programmes, which ran from 9 a.m. until noon, we surprised the enthusiastic young athletes with small gifts and gathered for a large group photo. We are happy to say that the coaches and sports professionals of BRSE once again organized a wonderful and cheerful event.
