Dissemination event – Santa Margherita di Pula,

The preliminary findings from the EDATS project were shared at the 4th UniCa Sport Science International Conference (USSIC 2025). The Scientific Conference was held in Santa Margherita di Pula (Cagliari, Italy) and attended by researchers from 11 countries. as

The presentation was introduced as a part of the official scientific program, within the BIOMECHANICS & PSYCHOLOGY session. It focused on the use of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) to analyze jump dynamics and postural stabilization of athletes. Titled “An IMU-based Method for Estimating Dynamic Balance”, the work was presented by Federico Arippa and co-authored by Bruno Leban and Massimiliano Pau, from the Laboratory of Biomechanics and Industrial Ergonomics at DIMCM – University of Cagliari, within the framework of the EDATS project.

The presentation attracted strong interest from both professionals and researchers, who highlighted the practical relevance and wide applicability of the method across different sports contexts. Stakeholders particularly appreciated the project’s methodological approach, which combines ecological validity, real-world monitoring, and the integration of biomechanical and physiological data for performance assessment. Stimulating discussions followed with leading experts in the Sports Science field, such as Attilio Carraro (University of Bolzano, Italy), Carlo Castagna (Pegaso Telematic University, Italy), and Malcolm Collins (University of Cape Town, South Africa).

The contribution was recognized with the Best Oral Presentation Award for Young Investigators, underscoring the innovation and scientific quality of the work.

Overall, the event offered a valuable platform for visibility, networking, and collaboration, helping to promote the EDATS project and showcasing the potential of European-funded research, in line with the aims of the Erasmus+ Programme, co-financed by the European Union.
